When you Read a Blog, do you Recognize or Relate Who is Writing it?

Posted by Kahn | March 15, 2008.

Consider the Source

Whenever I read a blog, I try to get a feel for who the author actual is.  This can be difficult, but is often times very easy to do.  Most of the time I do it unconsciously, and you probably do too.  You arrive at a blog, read whichever post interests you, and then click on the about page.  From that about page you can learn almost everything you need to know about the author of the blog.  Does the author talk a lot about him or herself?  Does the author tell you what he or she plans to accomplish?  You don’t have to analyze the blog about page, just go with your gut and that first impression is usually right.

Why is this Important?

I don’t think it is about authenticity, but more so about uniqueness and personality.  If you met this person face to face, would he or she become your friend and give you lasting relationship?  If not, then what is the point of reading the blog?  After all, you do have millions of other blogs to choose from.  So what if the author is making thousands upon thousands per month on his blog.  If the author won’t give you the time of day to answer a question or just seems to be too high up for anyone to yell loud enough for him to hear, find another blog.  I would rather return and continue to visit a blog with a friendly and open author who has a successful attitude than a blogger who has achieved his dream and now turns his back on the readers.

How do you Organize?

Posted by Kahn | March 14, 2008.

With so much information to manage when running multiple websites, you have to find a way of organizing it all. You will hear everybody’s take on the subject, but what really matters is finding something that works for you.

Excel

Microsoft Excel is a very good way of keeping track of many forms of data without cluttering your desk with papers. The nice thing about Excel is that there is not much of a learning curve when you first start using the program.

Notebook

Another great way to keep track of something or organize it is to place it in a notebook. Notebooks are very cheap and can be used for anything. You can also find notebooks from college rule to graph paper type notebooks. A problem with notebooks is the fact that it requires physical space to store them. If you have ten different projects you ware working on, you can imagine what happens when you run out of drawer space for these notebooks.

Conclusion

You can see the dilemma is choosing if you are going to use a digital or a physical form for storing the data. Whatever it is that you choose to go with, just keep in mind that you are not limited to the above options. You are not even limited to using only one of the options- you could use both.

Hurrah! It’s Open

Welcome Mr, Ms, or Mrs reader,

This is the first post I will ever make on ProfitKahn.com. It’s about 1am where I live and I’m excited to get this blog rolling. I have big hopes and dreams for this blog, and it almost feels like the 4th of July a few months early. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to light off fireworks, pop party poppers, or open a bottle of champagne, so hopefully this picture will do…
